how many can you name?

I was recently on another board ( can't post link do to HIGH porn content, hehehe). Anyway we were discussing that not many ethnic comic character make it to the big screen ( or the small screen) and when they do they are usually relegated to supporting role are die off in the first 15 minutes.

So the question arose how many mainstream ethnic heros and villains could you name. Now being that this was not a community like DA i had to posts some guideline ,first the characters had to be from mainstream comics (i.e, DC,Marvel and Image) since this would be the mostly likely books the none hardcore comic crowd would know. Also seeing that some ethnic characters have made the movies I excluded the following; GL Jon Stewart,Storm Luke Cage, Black Panther,Falcon,Blade,Bishop ,Black Lightening ,Mr. Terrific ,War Machine, Kato, Wong ,Thunderbird and Warpath.

So with these excluded how many ethnic characters can you name. And to be fair seeing that this is DA you can list mainstream and indy characters.

Let's see what we can dig up!

Here we Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The crew from Bad Cog Studios and Brushfire Studios will be attending Comicpalooza here in Houston ,Tx May 27-28,2011. So if your in the area drop by show us some love. We will also be debuting our first title Las Locas, a limited anthology wrote by Devin Richard [link] . It's a black and white book that will have you wanting more!

So if your in town drop by and just watch this space for more info on how to get your grubby little deviant hand on the book.
... here's the deal!!!

It's time. I and my Bad Cog Studios cohort are opening up submissions for our upcoming anthology series , Ante Up! . Ante Up! is planned to be an ongoing series that will be release twice a year ( too start). We plan on having a 200+ page book. The book will be broken down into four sections;

section one : Tall Tales, these will be 10 page short stories that can be a one-time thing or an ongoing story. The layout for the stories will be LANDSCAPE FORMAT , we are going for a wide screen of "HD" feel for the book. The content of the stories can be any genre. The book will be suited for a more mature audience, but we're trying for an "R" rating not an "X" (lol). The stories can be full-color or black and white. They just have to be creative.

section two : Gamblers Dreams , this section will be for the poetry buffs. We plan on have poems that will be accompanied by a single illustration that will encompass the essence of the poem. the illo will also be LANDSCAPE.

section three : The Art of the Cards : this will be and "Urban" art galley , everything form graffiti to comic style art will be accepted.

section four : The Pit Bosses , this is a classified section that will feature everyone involved with the project. I plan on have all the contributors to Ante Up! list with their contact info and a short bio. To help promote all the talented people that will be part of this project.

So my fellow Deviants if you would like to play a hand with us , come on and pull up a seat. Ante Up! will be printed as an oversized graphic novel 9x11 in LANDSCAPE format! And if you need more info feel free to email me or drop me a note!

Let's get Creative !

Here's the deal.
Angel Comics is looking for talent. Specifically, stories. We are a fledgling publisher that is looking to become a player in the industry. we have our own printing and we have a group of artists, myself included, that work hard getting stuff done.
Our goals are lofty and we've agreed that we should open it up to include some of the talented people that we've met over the years. So this is a new beginning of sorts for us and an opportunity for you to get in and show what you can do!

The first project will be an anthology, so you only have to have is a 8-12 page finished story. Any genre. We plan on releasing the anthology bi monthly starting in March. If you have a bigger story to tell, cool, it can be a running feature. If we like it, we'll make an offer to publish it as an individual title and negotiate pay. The story you submit will be your story, not Angels's. Your characters and idea will always be yours.

There is a deadline for the first issue though. January 28, all entries will have to be in to be considered for the first issue. If we receive too many for the first, we'll push it to the second and so on. Remember this will be an ongoing title. Send me a note or email me at adrian@adriannelson.com.

So come one, come all and let's make 2011 the year we all make our dreams come true!
